Charities

Maponics believes it is important for businesses to contribute to society, whether through the products or services they offer, the donation of time, or by giving money directly to charities. In keeping with this vision, Maponics donates 10% of all company profits to charitable organizations. Maponics serves clients nationwide, so four national and one local charity have been chosen.

Central to the decision making process was an examination of how each nonprofit manages its donations. We have chosen those that have demonstrated the most efficient fundraising processes, so that the maximum percentage of all donations reaches those in need. The charities featured are:

Vermont Earth Institute

The Vermont Earth Institute educates and supports Vermonters to reduce consumption and adopt environmentally sustainable practices in their homes, workplaces and communities. They offer course topics in Voluntary Simplicity, Choices for Sustainable Living, Discovering a Sense of Place and Deep Ecology, Globalization, and Healthy Children, Healthy Planet. Discussion groups are formed in workplace, faith, geographic and other communities.

Wildlife Conservation Society

Since 1895, Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has worked from their headquarters at Bronx Zoo to save wildlife and wild lands throughout the world. The organization combine the resources of wildlife parks in New York with field projects around the globe to inspire care for nature, provide leadership in environmental education, and help sustain biological diversity. Today Wildlife Conservation Society works in 53 nations across Africa, Asia, Latin America and North America, to protect wild landscapes that are home to a variety of species from butterflies to tigers.

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Red Cross is committed to saving lives and easing suffering. Led by one million volunteers and 36,000 employees, the Red Cross annually mobilizes relief to families affected by more than 70,000 disasters, trains almost 12 million people in lifesaving skills and keeps U.S. military families connected worldwide. The Red Cross is the largest supplier of blood and blood products to more than 3,000 hospitals across the nation and also assists victims of international disasters and conflicts at locations worldwide.

Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic's mission is to create opportunities for individual success by providing, and promoting the effective use of, accessible educational materials. Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic's library contains more than 98,000 titles in a broad variety of subjects, from literature and history to math and the sciences, at all academic levels, from kindergarten through post-graduate and professional. Anyone with a documented disability-including a visual impairment, learning disability or other physical disability which makes reading standard print difficult or impossible-is eligible to use RFB&D's audio textbooks.

United States Fund for UNICEF

Since 1947, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF has supported the work of UNICEF by fundraising for its programs and increasing public awareness of the challenges facing the world's children. As the oldest of 37 national committees for UNICEF worldwide, the U.S. Fund is part of a global effort to advance humanity with health, education, equality and protection for every child.
